Emilio Paolini, a PhD student in Emerging Digital Technologies at the TeCIP Institute of the Sant'Anna School, has received a travel grant to attend the prestigious EUCNC 2023 conference. The grant allows the student to present his work "Photonic-accelerated AI for cybersecurity in sustainable 6G networks," which was conducted in cooperation with Luca Valcarenghi, associate professor of Telecommunications at the TeCIP Institute of the Sant'Anna School , Luca Maggiani (Sma-RTy Italia) and Nicola Andriolli (CNR- IEIIT).

Emilio Paolini's contribution focuses on the combined use of photonic technologies and artificial intelligence to create advanced security systems for 6G communication networks. With the AI processing capability accelerated by photonics technology, it is possible to develop efficient and sustainable security systems that can protect data and communications more effectively than traditional techniques and minimize environmental impact.

The event, held annually under the auspices of theInstitute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), involves hundreds of experts from around the world in the field of future communications networks. The 2023 edition, focusing on the theme "6G for a Green and Digital Transition," will take place in Gothenburg in the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre.

The study is the result of activities within the European CLEVER and NextGenerationEU projects.
